Re: High Speed vibration issue

Pull your propshaft and take it for a drive. Check it to see if there are any tears in the boot, look for grease that has been slung out at all over.

My truck is lowered in the front and rear and I've had it over 100MPH sustained a TON of times and it's smooth. You can have a lowered truck and a smooth ride.

Re: High Speed vibration issue

Mine started this same problem when I added the Bell Tech lowering springs. When I did the springs I also added the set back plates too. I also did a rear u-joint replacement at the same time. I did not notice it immediately but the vibes are there at 60 and go away at 80. I assumed it was the driveshaft not being balance after the u-joint installation. I know I also have other driveline issues(need front diff bushings and need to check on the engine mounts). A few months later I was talking to someone who asked if I had drive line vibes? I said "only at 60-80" and he said, " you better check to see if your pinion seal is leaking". Sure enough it is now and I drive this thing daily. I did not notice the leak beacsue I thought I was smart parking on a large carpet in the garage. I do not even notice the small pool of fluid directly below the pinion. I need to get it checked this week so if I hear something I post it up for all to see.

Re: High Speed vibration issue

i currently have my rear axles out as of last night to get ready for a rear disc swap, checking the rear end out mine seems to be good , no play in pinion or carrier , seal was never leaking, also i tried running with no front prop shaft , didnt make any diffrence. this is exactly why it went into storage for over two years....lol i figure it never stopped good so id do a brake upgrade and try some aftermarket rims , if that doesnt fix it it will be the next owners problem.... by the way i have this problem with stock rims , what rims is everyone else using that has this problem ? stock ? aftermarket ?

Re: High Speed vibration issue

3" drop here, and it's smooth past 110. The S-15 on the other hand will vibrate at times between 65-75, but not every time. I read somewhere that the S-series trucks have some kind of vibration/harmonics issue in this range, and its more pronounced in some trucks than others.

Here is everything I can think of:

wheel out of balance
bent rim
alignment issue
propshaft
cv shafts
t-case
bad bushings
driveshaft

Re: High Speed vibration issue

I've had 4 different S-series trucks and gkcr882 is right. 2 of them had vibration problems and 2 didn't. One was a brand new 2003 xtreme and it had a vibration from the first day I bought it. It was at the dealer more then I got to drive it, they eventually took it back after a year and a half and they couldn't fix it. Then my Sy it's lowered about 3" and it never shakes.

Re: High Speed vibration issue

my sy has just started the vibes. it rode smooth as silk and one day it decided to shake. no potholes, nothing changed within about 2 weeks. now 2 weeks prior i had a zq8 and replaced ujoints, didnt touch the propshaft. checked wheels, tires dont have flat spots, even flipped the driveshaft, but it had no effect. its definitely a new thing to me and is very, very noticeable 65+. below that, its strangely smooth.

Re: High Speed vibration issue

mine isnt really a vibration , its bad enough where about 75 mph its out of control , forget about anything in the cup holder , you'll be wearing it. im mean bad enough to where it feels like its vibrating so bad you have no control of the steering. on the highway at 75mph people move out of my way. lol you would think something that bad would be easy to spot. thats why i put it out to pasture for 2 years , never has a vibration given me so much headache. if i finish the brake upgrade and diffrent rims (i have stock one now) at its still there ................... rest in peace you pos.......... lol.. dont know, tried everything discussed so far. just curious as to what waller comes up with.

Thanks a bunch for the responses...

I do have the front lowered a good amount. Does anyone that has done a coil-over swap have this problem?

I will have to look into the road force machine (Thanks Branden)

And if anyone finds the link to any old threads, please post....

Jack

My truck does not do this with the coilovers... I have some other vibrations but they are engine related (vary with RPM)

Stockers for me too. What about the driveshaft needing a balance? If it is not running go and have it checked for balance.

Get this to a shop before you drive it and kill yourself or someone else.

thats why its been in storage for over two years , i figure i'll try a couple more thing and if that doesnt do it " BYE BYE NOW" , seriously its unsafe bad , you'd think something this bad would be easy to spot. im thinking its gotta be a tire/rim problem. not a whole lot left on my truck that hasnt been checked or replaced.
