Re: One last shot... Breaking up!
OK guys
The verdict is in. The inj are not 50's just as i had excepted. I had ran into this issue on a friends ty and on a GN.
Here is what i found.
Matt actually labeled each inj as they were removed. so i just used that has the injector #.
Test 1 consisted of a full flow test @ 85% duty cycle. Fuel pressure set @ 43.5psi (standard pressure for inj ratings. unless ford svo inj. those are 40psi )
Inj 1- 44.3lb hr
inj 2- 45.5lb hr
inj 3- 45.7lb hr
inj 4- 46.7lb hr
inj 5- 46.3lb hr
inj 6- 46.3lb hr
All the injectors were cleaned prior to flowing to make sure the tests were accurate
next test consisted of 6-ms @2500 rpm again fuel pressure set @43.5. this test to see if the inj flows linear at low pulse widths
inj 1- 40.4lb hr
inj 2- 39.7lb hr
inj 3- 41.6lb hr
inj 4- 41.2lb hr
inj 5- 42.1lb hr
inj 6- 42.1lb hr
The next test was agin test @ low pulse widths 12ms@ 2500rpm fuel pressure @ 43.5
inj 1- 41.6lb hr
inj 2- 41.2lb hr
inj 3- 43.2lb hr
inj 4- 43.2lb hr
inj 5- 43.6lb hr
inj 6- 43.6lb hr
The inj being called a 50 and they actually flow in normal driving area as a 43. thats 7lb's an hour difference. I would think that when these inj were in the truck and in closed loop the long term fuel correction/block learn should have been in the 160's area as for it having to try and compensate.
The machine used for the flow test is a ASNU fuel inj tester that test various type of inj. and it has a wide range of operating areas.
It can do 3,6,12,ms with a rpm range from 600,1200,2500,5000,10,000. and you can set the ms and or rpm to what value you want.
I hope this may answer some questions anybody may have had on the so called 50's. delphi made the 009 inj as well and thos flow goofy as well. The biggest thing i dislike about these inj besides the low flow numbers is they are a disc style injector. they don't really tolerate higher fuel pressures over 50 psi and they have trouble opening.
but remember thats a delta of 50 psi or more. as the boost pressure rises so does the fuel pressure so the delta psi stays the same.
