What's happened to the "old" timers?

Ahhh, the good old days.

Oh man......you guys got me crying at work I'm laughing so hard..........

We stop at a gas station somewhere deep in Kansas/Oklahoma/Texas at night.....about 20 old people playing Bingo inside (yeah- it's happening at the gas station).....Sean's still dressed in the Orange jumpsuit.....Andrew has some pink feather covered shorts on.....leopard shoes.....purple hair......I think three of the old people had heart attacks when we walked inside. Freakin classic.........

We (my Ty & I) just had our 8 year anniversary.........it's not going anywhere until someone pries it from my cold dead hands........

Hung out with Sean himself this past weekend over in St Pete with his Skyline GTR crew and absolutely nothing about him has changed over the years. I dont even think he has changed his boxers either....

I'll get some pics up of the latest and greatest Sean Morris.

Pretty cool crew, no? I learned many things about those guys in the 4 days they were down here last month.

Sean hates hamburgers.
Josh hates ketchup.
Victor and I will eat anything.
Igor can fetch a frisbee better than a dog.
When you go to Hooters with 4 guys in Nismo shirts and Skyline GTR jackets, you are bound to have a local ask if they have a "real" Skyline GTR.
NOS energy drinks aren't hard to come by.
Sean is still the same.

....wow....ive been browsing since i was like 10yrs old or so , so i guess thats 2000......dont ask Im obsessed ....my sy has been in my family since 1991 when my parrents got divorced, but i just joined in september 2005 when i turned 16.
so i guess im a young old timer if that makes sence . now adays theres alot of kids/teens on here, i know camren is only about 15 or so, and theres sevral 17 year olds on here. .
ill be driving my sy soon hopefully. i remember reading a few years back when the first truck broke into the 10s , the fastest truck now is the hoovers truck running very low 9s i think it was a 9.03? and eds truck will most likely be in the 8s when he finishes it........

Re: What's happened to the "old" timers?

I got Igors moms email.... HA! She wanted a copy of all the pics I was taking. She couldnt trust anyone else for me to send them to :rotf:

Im hooked on NOS... I cant believe they got a crate of that stuff, then again, when you drink a case a day by yourself.

There were people walking up to the tent with puzzled faces and asking what the hell kinda car we had. I was also told by a kid that Vipers have 5 turbos and are better than Nissan.... and Japan makes cool cartoons too. I think the best part is when I ask...

"What if I told you I had a truck faster than a Viper?"

the response: "CAUSE YOU DONT!"

:rotf:

But nothing can top off rolling around the pit area with Victor in his Ty stacked with 8 tires listening to old skool 2 live crew while we pass the Cadillac tent.

Wow, maybe I really should attend Nats just for the photo-op, sounds like you may be old but still act "young".
On a serious note concerning this thread, I ran past a guy last summer that said he helped start the board "back in the day" he is a one owner and only has like 40k on his sy?! seemed nice maybe in his late 40's. This was in Ogden Utah. If anyone here by chance knows who he is I wouldnt mind knowing.

I believe it was Dabney who said his Silverstate Ty would drain the gas tank in 30 minutes at WOT. That's cool.

Hey - I was one of those names on that list... as far as being around - I had my Typhoon since December 1992- used in 1992. I was on the mailing list since - maybe 1995. Someone would have to tell me. Maybe longer.

I still occasionally talk to a lot of the names on the list there. Not hang out and do the crazy stuff, but still talk. Adam, Ian at St. Pete. Hood at Roebling Road. Thanks too, to them all for coming out.

Since 1999 I have been involved in the Skylines. Taken most of my time. I still have all my trucks, none of which run. I got the Syclone running, and shortly after killed the transmission. I think I'm up in the 8 or 9 dead trannies in my Sy/Ty's.

I did a bit of work on the Fast and Furious 3. Just car stuff. I can't help the story or what goes on, but when you look at the cars, theres some stuff I did. The RB26 powered 1967 Mustang I was very involved with.

Now working as crew chief on the Automotive Forums.com R34 GT-R race car that runs in Speed World Challenge. So far we have had three races, Sebring, St. Petersburg, and Long Beach. May 19-21st we race at Mid-Ohio.

Dabney. We had fun open road racing in his Typhoon at Big Bend in Texas. That was interesting. I flew up to Colorado, we drove down to Texas. Raced the truck, and then drove home. Pretty crazy. We averaged 120 mph over 120 miles hit a peak on Diacom of 150 mph and we won our class. Fun crazy time.

I was driving Victors Typhoon for about the last 6 months. Victors another guy on the Automotive Forums.com race team. His Typhoon was the vinyl roof Typhoon that came back from Japan. We actually took the Typhoon with us in the race rig. We were using it as transport at the races.

Re: What's happened to the "old" timers?

I'm pretty sure I count as "old school".
THE TURBO CUKE SHALL NEVER DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

heheh I still miss the hell out of all you guys. I get a call or email from Chris P about once a year to say hey. The only reason I left was because "I thought" graduating college meant I had to "grow up" and stop spending every waking minute of my life wrenching on my baby. I bought an Explorer, did a retardedly crazy stereo, and drove around for 5 years. I'm back in Gaineasville Florida where I first started my adventures with the Ty. I sold the Exploder last year and got into a beautiful Gen 2 Lightning (I KNOW, SHOOT ME NOW!). I miss the traction of the Ty for sure, but holy hell are the L's fun. Naturally with my obsessive-compulsive personality, I'm on 2 of the big Lightning boards non stop. My truck is doing 12.60's all day long, and I'm a pretty happy camper. Maybe one day I'll be able to get to a meet and say hi to the old Fl. crew. But just to let you know where my love will always lie, I'm Typhoon43 on both the Lightning boards :D

Peace out gang!

Josh Benedict. I hear he still has his truck, just sitting around.

Yes, he still has the truck but it hasn't been on the road since the summer of 2004. Has zero interest in the truck and the community now :( . He built a 32' X 48' garage two years ago and the truck sat outside all winter long. I griped at him enough that he *finally* moved it inside this past winter. The neglect bit him in the butt a little as the truck got in a condition that would break many owners hearts... I spent the weekend over at his place at least once a month, usually going every other weekend. He now enjoys my interests that I introduced him to: ATVing, reloading ammunition and shooting high powered firearms.

Todd Austinson has moved on to the OBDII market with his new scan gauge that he introduced last year. When I was manufacturing cables for him and his partner, I would see him fairly often. Prior to that, I was building Ultimate chips and carriers for him. He still stops by occasionally to "proof check" chips in my truck since he doesn't have one. His last visit prompted him to decide to no longer offer the 10N1 chip due to component issues that are beyond his control. He currently has a 593 rwhp '03 cobra. However, he is still in the GM camp since he bought a Trailblazer SS recently. Hopefully he will bring it to the track the next time I participate in the track rental with his group that is held monthly.
