I'm going to be watching this thread like a hawk...you plan to powder or POR the frame?

Side note: this is why I need a lift...or need to become buddies with someone who does. I fear the fact that I have to split the body from the frame manually :tdown: It makes a world of difference.

And the way it sits for the next few weeks until it heads out for paint. Glass guy be here tomorrow to pull the windshield and quarter glass. Weird that my cell phone takes better pics than a digicam. The camera is about 8 years old though.

just a FYI those rubber strips in front of the door take them off carefully they arent reproduced and they are long discontinued

slowest......project......truck.......ever.

Been sslllloooowwwwlllyyy collecting more parts.

JSM front arms, hypercoills, QA1 front shocks, Raybestos ball joints.
Have some belltech drop leafs at Jeff Scotts house, I just need to find time to go get them. Sway bars for front and rear should be here next week. Still undecided on what shocks to use on the rear.

Next step is to strip everything off the frame and send it out for powdercoat.

Long time since last update. Probably because nothing has changed in the last year. :roll:

Will be putting body back on the frame this week. Going to send it down to my dad's Saturday. He's retired, and has no winter projects, so he's going to start playing with the suspension and frame and get it POR15'd. Will be dropping it off to a local guy to have it painted here in about a month or so. This guy painted my dads '69 Nova last year, and it turned out perfect. Should have the frame done and suspension put together by then. Hopefully have it back from paint within a months time and I can start reassembly. 2 major purchases left, transmission and FAST xfi. Other than that, everything else needed are small things, but tons of them. At least I'll be able to clear out the garage of all the interior and the wife can get a parking spot back. Can get all the parts out of my office and can get the truck back home so I can at least side in a mostly complete truck and pretend I'm driving it until it gets running.

Ok, Im pretty sure I talked to one of your buddies (Specialist in the army)over here in Afghanistan. He saw pics of my Sy and Ty in my office and was telling me about a friend of his back in Indiana that has a garnet one thats been restored like forever....must be you! :myclone:

LCan get all the parts out of my office and can get the truck back home so I can at least side in a mostly complete truck and pretend I'm driving it until it gets running.

Sit a flat screen on the hood and hookup Forza 4 on the XBOX. :tup:

Possibly. He's in the IN National Guard. Just got home 2 weeks ago from Afghanistan. I've known him since I was 3. Giltner is the last name.

Spent a TON of money this week. First to arrive are some Toyo drag radials in 275/40/17....Hopefully the truck is back on the road before these dry rot.

The suspension is all mocked up, C5 brakes put on. It's all stripped back apart and the frame is heading out to the sandblasters tomorrow morning, and a bunch of parts off to get powdercoated. Hopefully I'll have the frame back by the end of the week so I can POR15 it next weekend and start reassembly after Christmas.

C5 rear brakes. For now, no ebrake or backing plates. Once it's on the road, maybe a project for next winter. We'll see.

Couldn't find anybody that made brackets to make the rear C5 calipers fit the the stock rear diff, and I didn't want to go pull a 4wd S10 diff from a junkyard to put in, so friend of my dads made these. If anyone is interested, he will make more. How much, don't know. Don't know how much he's charging me yet.

My dad already had the spindles and upper arms pulled of by the time I got there, so no pics of the front setup put together.

And stripped back apart and loaded up to go out for sandblasting.

in 3 or 4 more months, it'll be off the road for 8 years. Hoping to have it mostly done for Nats next year. Whether it's running or not, it'll be there. At least mostly complete.
