 Ditto.

After your headache wears off Sigo take a break and do something else for a couple of days. When you are back in the mood get back to work on it.
Remember this is kinda like model airplanes. Flying is only half the fun-building is the other half.

Don't worry you have enough peeps on here with engine experience to help you. We will learn you how to work on these things yet. To bad you aren't stateside.

If it makes you feel any better, every car I've ever had in my posession for more than a day has died on me at some point. The only exception is my sister's '88 Plymouth Grand Voyager, and that wasn't the most reliable vehicle when she was driving it.
*1990 Dodge Dakota LE - Starter died
*1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - 99k original miles, on it's 3rd engine, and currently wrecked
*1986 Merkur XR4Ti - Bad turbo and TPS
*1981 Honda Accord - Blew the head gasket
*1984 Volvo 245 DL - Bad Air Mass Meter, broken fuel line, loose fuses, and major vacuum leak
*1990 Honda Civic CRX - Bad battery
*1991 Honda Civic - You name it...
*1979 Fiat X1/9 - Clutch/battery problems

...and I've only been driving a little over 2 years. Fix that truck and enjoy it. At least you have a SyTy.

Had very similar noises, thought I was screwed. Turned out to be bad alternator. Nevermind, no belt, no alt. spinning. Sorry for your loss. Jim

sorry to hear the bad news sigo..

even with a blown engine your truck is faster than 90% of the crap people drive over at OT, so yeah.. sleep it off, remeber its only an engine.. and good luck!

Check your TC to fly wheel bolts and flywheel to crank bolts. If they are the wrong kind/too long/loose they can hit the back of the block making one hellava racket.

i vote for this one too. does the clackity clack go up and down with rpm?

Yeah...it starts with start-up and goes up & down with rpm....it's like when you had the baseball card clothespinned to your bicycle.

that was thought about..but when I got down next to the starter the sound isn't really coming from the starter area. Combine that with I've never really heard a starter go like that.

I'd offer you a shoulder to cry on but I'd be affraid you'd get too excited.

Sucks to hear about the engine... All you need to do now is fly someone down to help you out with the next one and double check steps along the way.. Here's to hoping most of your engine is in one piece and can be reused ;) Want to chat I'll be online ;)

Eh no AIM on gov't network.

I've pretty much decided to commit the reserves. Gonna look at taking out 10k$ from mutuals. 5k for motor and 5k for a daily driver honda.

It doesn't help that I've (last 10 minutes) been offered command 60 miles up the road in Weisbaden. I am not looking forward to that daily commute.

I'm starting the e-mails to different agencies to purchase stuff. more to folloow.

like falco said

i had a tc bolt come off, and it does have a much different sound than a rod.

When i heard the nosie. I pulled over. at idle i didnt hear anything. So i nailed the gas as i told myself fuck it im gonna make it blow.

Then there was a loud Bang, then it just kept going. I had no idea what had made the noise. back at the shop put in on the lift to see a tc bolt had blown out the tc inspection cover.

So did you use a torq wrench on the tc bolts.

It will make quite a racket if one came out and is rattleing around.

I was lucky it didnt break the tranny case!

Wilco...you still going to be in switzerland?

Nope, I don't think so. I've to straighten out issues with the Sy before I can go anywhere. I might show up without the truck, but I hate to go to meets without the proper vehicle under my butt... What about you?

And damm! Go out and check these bolts! We are bitting off our nails here...

Later,
