Whooshing sound under dash with boost

Re: Whooshing sound under dash with boost Sounds like a bad vacuum check valve to me.. Its allowing the boost to pressurize all of the vacuum lines under the dash and once you get up to enough pressure something leaks.. The check valve is under the hood, near the firewall IIRC... Looks like this:

    Re-clear coating stock rimsg- DIY

Re: Re-clear coating stock rimsg- DIY Just saw this.. Tires are fine.. A good compromise I guess... The clear is holding up well but my truck was up on the lift all winter with the engine out of it... It really hasn't been driven enough to give a honest evaluation..

    broke down. ac bad

Re: broke down. ac bad Yep, you can do this.. Just don't hook up the old hoses(they are probably contaminated) or the electrical connector.. The new compressor will come with all of the ports capped off.. Leave these on the compressor..

    Lockup Table

Re: Lockup Table I do this too and its makes low speed cruising nice as RPMs and exhaust tone are both very low. I almost treat TC lockup as a 5th gear. My spacing to lock it at part throttle is about the same amount of spacing that I have between the gear shifts...

    Bulk connection at firewall question

Re: Bulk connection at firewall question No. Typhoons have some special stuff there like for the Electric Level Control. There are some other differences too.. Like 3 or 4 IIRC.. Not hard to adapt if you have both wiring diagrams..

    Crossover pipe material?

Re: Crossover pipe material? If it were mine I'd just MIG it with standard wire for mild steel.. It will be fine.. I've welded mild to stainless and vise-versa many times and never had an issue..

    Scored another 80e

Re: Scored another 80e Yep.. You get more engagement into the transfer case input shaft. I'm currently running a 4x4 80e and IIRC I only have like 1.25" of engagement.. That worries me since my truck is heavier than a real Ty and that 383 stroker makes gobs of torque.. The only saving grace...

    Scored another 80e

Re: Scored another 80e This was posted by Blake many years back.... " Older 4L80E's had an EXTREME overpressurization issue where it would physically crack the case(excess of 600psi). Sonnax and Transgo HD2 kit's both offer fixes to the issue. If you get a 1999 or new core, you will get MANY...

    Scored another 80e

Re: Scored another 80e I actually have a NIB HD2 shift kit... Did you install yours after the tranny was in the truck or before? My preference would be to install the transmission, make sure it works, then install the HD2 kit..

    Scored another 80e

I'm pretty sure that my current 80e has some pump noise so I've been looking for another. Found this one on CL.. Its supposed to be in good working order. The guy I bought it from claims that it was in a 3500 van that drove and shifted fine.. He wasn't sure of the mileage though.. I got this...
