I doubt you driven the new GT-R, unless you work for Nissan in the proving grounds.

You are so smart. Do you know where he works? I do. He works for "Car and Driver" if you know what that is.... dumbass......

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

I won't elaborate here...don't want to jack the thread....but....as long as the amount of energy SPENT in conversion is greater than the end resulted energy...such as electric or Hydrogen or even E85....fossile fuels will remain the most viable.
I personally think engineers need to concentrate on perfecting solar ,water and wind conversion to a much higher efficiency. Or soon enough...we could all be having small nuc. reactors for powerplanted vehiches !!!! ;)

And in regards to the GT-R being emotionless, cheaply trimmed . I certainly didn't feel this way at all when checking it out at the unveiling there in Orange County. For its price point...it was just the oposite to me for a four seater. Fit and finish was great. Certainly no more plastics used than cars of an even higher caliber.Even the exhaust note was great for a stock 6 cylinder car.
Maybe our age groups expect different things ?? Of course they do. Just like what a 45 year pld man looks for in a woman would be different to that of a 20 year old. But thats what makes things interesting I believe.

I see what you are saying. I'm going to school to be an engineer so I'm right there with ya in that mindset. I'm just saying that there are different ways of achieving a single goal.

As for our future cars, it should be quite interesting. I doubt power will be a concern right away, more so just laying foundation for a new vehicle type. As far as I'm concerned, electric is the way to go. Obviously some kind of perpetual motion electric car would be the holy grail to obtain. But as of now, GM is going in the best direction with their new volt concept IMO.
Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have potential but there are alot of problems with them.

A Z06 or Viper is so amazing because (to me) of looks, sound, POWER

My sentiment exactly. The GT-R is quick but I doubt it will hold up under repeated launches like a Shelby Mustang or a Z06 will.....and I think the GT-R is plain ugly. Maybe when I see one in person that will change but I doubt it. The Z06 is just a great looking car IMO.

Hmmm.....I'd like to give one a go from a little roll action with 415lt5 in my Z.......my problem is 1st and 2nd are only tire warming gears for the 345/19 tank tracs in the back, but word is a 19" drag radial is going to hit the market soon and man do I need them since rolling around town on et drags is lamo!

Z06 STILL has a pushrod motor......R35 has a marvle wonder coming about in a small displacement multivalve super smooth engine...

Cheers,vinny

Hey don't knock perfection :) Don't forget a GTR ULTIMA is a pushrod motor and will EAT up a R35 on the track and 1/4mile, and even stops faster than a R35, AND still street legal! I "THINK" it's cheaper too! PLUS faster to 100 to 0 mph record holder.
Not bad for street legal pushrod motor.

Just wish they would run it on the Nuremberg track to lay some numbers down, but hear it is on the top gear track, still number on as I recall.

Let me know when your down, I'l pull the sy out of the mothballs.

I LOVE the Ultima. I realize my argument that the R35 is a four seater is knd of lame. ;) But thats about its only real spread from the cars its being compared too.....well, weight and size also.....but you know what I mean.

Dean....I've been out here for a week already ! Gone from San Diego to Burbank twice.....going to east LA. today. I'll PM my cell to you. Give me a ring and we'll see if we can line things up ?

Interesting read. If money were no object, I'd still rather have the ZR-1
Heck yeah...the new zr1 is too cool, but i'd still rather have just a new z06 with the dry sump 427 small block......a $400 lsm cam plus $60 to mill the heads for over 600hp in a 3000 pound rocket....fun..fun!!!

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

I posted that video up on Page 4 a couple weeks ago...The new GT-R is lame and they have to cheat it to the top. Long love the Z06, ZR1 and any Porsche that legitimately smashed the GT-R on the Nurburgring.

Truckless. For now.

Cool video...I hope they put some real tires under the new Zr1 for testing

I just read that the ZR-1 did the Ring in 7 minutes, 26.4 seconds, in completely stock trim, full tank of gas, and had a headwind on the main straight. (read about it here )

Now... I just need to find the official video.

ZR-1..
