Well that was fast...lol Wonder how many miles were on it. Also said in the article that the guys at top gear wrecked one? I didn't know that.

technically, they got rear ended when they realized how good the brakes were.

Ahh, yea I just read that. Well guess it is good to know the brakes work?lol

Hey Vinny, you been eating those stinky fish again? You say we are getting touchy, you are quite defensive also. I wasn't bashing the GTR just commenting on the ability of the LS motor. I agree with you in that a company with the magnitude of GM you would think they could produce an untouchable supercar. But look at it this way, when someone says supercar I'm sure most think of a european auto maker, porsche, ferrari, lambo, not a chevy corvette. It is an american icon but on the world platform I'm sure it is one of the last on the list. For them to put a blower on a 7 liter that in the Z06 makes 505hp you would think it could muster more that 638. I would expect more like 700. Not saying I would pitch a fat one to drive a z06 of a zr1......oh almost just thinking about it. I will agree if I saw a GTR on the street I'm sure I would just wave and watch, wouldn't want to deal with the embarrassment. I haven't read up on the engine, what makes th GTR engine so "technologically advanced"?

I just wanted to point out that the LS9 in the ZR1 isn't a ls7 with a blower on it. It is actually a 6.2L, not 7.0L.

^ what tires are you running Dean?

Just some Firestone Firehawks, I've read some pretty bad reviews of them. Had them for years, I'll upgrade to something better some day when I find something really good. I'm sure its all ready out there but I just haven't looked.

I can't launch with more than 12 Lbs or it will spin. I can hold about 17lbs or maybe even 20 at the line but that would just spin like crazy. I need much better tires. You can contact me via email if you have more questions. so we can keep this thread clean.

I think some owners of the new GTR will be in for a few surprises, especially if they void thier warranty and something breaks....

New motor = $28,000
New transmission = $18,000
New front brake rotor = $1,100
1 quart of Nissan trans fluid = $100... Nissan requires trans fluid replacement every 18,000 miles... It takes 10 quarts... $1,000 just for the fluid.

Damn! I still want one later but maybe I'll just stick to the new Camaro or Shelby GT 500KR:lol:

As with anything. The aftermarket will step up. Like the trans fluid. An example is Mitsu made the EVO MR with a 6 spd trans. Supposed to use nothing but Mitsu Diaqueen fluid. Nearly $100 for fluid. Yet Redline MT-90 works better and causes no additional wear. Just takes time for co's to dig into the cars.
If the public wants a car that runs mid 10's, rounds the road couse and needs nothing but oil changes. Its not for sale that I know of. Mods keep the aftermarket going.

Yes it is. It is called the Corvette ZR-1, Viper ACR or Porsche GT3. I could probably remove the Porsche from the equation because I had a 911 Turbo and the service fee was $120/hour. If a Z06 could run in the 10's stock, I would add it too but the quickest stock time I have come across is a number of 11.0x's.

A good friend of mine has a 02' 911 tt and says that its not the price of the car that is hard to afford, but the maintenance. worse if you dont do your own work

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

anyone race one of these or seen one on the streets? heard they are supposed to be quick cars .... high hp but not so high tourque ...

I saw one in Burnaby BC Canada and another at the track. He did pay a premium $79K for being the first to have one here and they did news story on the GTR.
